Initializing the Telemetry

Process for booting up the Scout and seeing its location on the mobile app or handset

To start the telemetry device just remove the plastic collar with the tag on it from the antenna mast. The antenna mast has a magnetic switch inside of it (small white cylinder) that when a magnet is near it, the system powers off. The magnet embedded in the collar needs to be aligned with the marks, otherwise the unit could turn on. When the unit is first turned on there is a red light inside the antenna mast near its base, unfortunately the light is very faint in the daylight, but very easy to see in the dark.

Remove the magnetic collar from the antenna mast, this will power on the unit.

Once the telemetry is on and you should see its messages and location on the mobile app within 10 minutes. If the telemetry beacon cannot send a message within 10 minutes (e.g. no or low signal strength) the unit will go to sleep and retry in 15 minutes.
